Tennessee Vs. Georgia: Bulldogs defense has some work to do

Dale Zanine-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Georgia Bulldogs knocked off Tennessee, 51-44, but afterward defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said the Bulldogs still have some work to do.

No. 5 Georgia was able to come away with a 51-44 win on Saturday, and while he said he was glad to come away with the victory, Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said the defense still has some things to iron out.

Grantham said the team has some work to do and needs to clean up a few things, but there were still a few positives to pull from the performance. Among the positives was the return of Bacarri Rambo and Alec Ogletree.

"It was a positive effect because they're good players," Grantham said, according to The Telegraph. "Anytime you haven't played in four weeks and really done anything from a competitive standpoint, it's gonna take some time, not only just playing but conditioning too. I thought for the most part those guys hung in there and kept battling."

Pass rush is one area of concern for Georgia, but Grantham said he thought part of the reason for the lack of sacks was a good Tennessee offensive line and the fact that the Volunteers were throwing a lot of quick passes. With Ogletree and Rambo returning, Grantham said he is looking for improvement as they shake off the rust and the different combinations of players get used to playing together.

The Georgia defense will try to improve when they face South Carolina at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday.
