SB Nation's Georgia Tech blog From the Rumble Seat has reaction from Saturday's win against Presbyterian, and we can also report that LilBroey700 was not hungover this morning. Actually, he ended up providing analysis in the reaction link.
This, on Vad Lee:
Vad Lee looked REALLY good. Kid made some great throws and runs. If anything his biggest struggle was making the right reads on the triple option. But the things he can do with the ball in his hands are really impressive. (Fun fact: His 79-yard run was the longest in Georgia Tech history that didn't go for a touchdown. Also, his 82-yard TD pass to Jeff Greene was the sixth-longest pass in Tech history.) I'm really excited to see him grow into an incredible player for this team.
Another issue raised was the vanilla play calling:
Aside from a little more passing than we're used to, I remember only one or two plays being run from the pistol, and nothing special out of the base set being called. For those looking for bells and whistles from our offense this year, you've yet to see it. Here's to hoping we see some more creativity.

Georgia Tech's 59-3 win over Presbyterian gave the Yellow Jackets the opportunity to get the starters out of the game early and to protect some players that were already nursing injuries.
B-back David Sims sat out the game as he continues to recover from a stress fracture in his shin. Sims played in the Yellow Jackets opener against Virginia Tech but sat out this week's game because of precautionary reasons.
A high ankle sprain kept tackle Morgan Bailey out of the game after he was unable to practice throughout the week. Paul Johnson had listed Bailey as questionable throughout the week.
Running back Orwin Smith banged up his shoulder in the loss to Virginia Tech and played sparingly against Presbyterian. Smith carried the ball one time for a loss of two yards and returned a kick 17 yards before exiting.

Victory was pretty much a certain going into Saturday's 59-3 win over Presbyterian for Georgia Tech. However, one thing that should have Yellow Jackets fans excited was the performance of redshirt freshman quarterback Vad Lee.
Lee ran for 101 yards and a touchdown and also tossed an 82-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Greene. His rushing total included a run of 79 yards before he was caught from behind. Lee sat out all of the 2011 season as a redshirt and Saturday's game was his first action in a real game since high school. He did not play in the Yellow Jackets season opening loss to Virginia Tech.
Following the game, Lee told the AJC that he was appreciative of the opportunity to finally get on the field:
"I am just happy to have the opportunity to be here and make big plays and showcase my abilities,"
With Tevin Washington a senior, Paul Johnson will likely look for opportunities to get Lee some more on the field experience this season.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets steamrolled the Presbyterian Blue Hose on Saturday, gaining 712 total yards in a 59-3 win.
But the win wasn't perfect. The Yellow Jackets fumbled four times Saturday and lost possession on three—and the one Georgia Tech recovered was on a fourth-down play, and the play ended in a turnover on downs.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Ken Sugiura, head coach Paul Johnson recognized the issue after Saturday's win. He was also brief.
From Sugiura:
The offense "had the ball out too much," coach Paul Johnson said. "We've got an issue or two there we've got to correct."
As is the case in Georgia Tech's style of offense, all of the fumbles Saturday occurred on run plays. Quarterback Tevin Washington fumbled in the second quarter when he was hit from behind. On the next drive, backup quarterback Synjyn Days coughed up the ball on his way into the end zone on a play that started at the Presbyterian 2-yard line.
The third fumble came on a botched handoff between Washington and Charles Perkins. The fourth was by quarterback Vad Lee, a fourth-down, fourth-quarter play with the game already well out of hand.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday against the Virginia Cavaliers at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Georgia Tech ran up over 700 yards of offense in a 59-3 rout over the Presbyterian Blue Hose. The Yellow Jackets led 21-0 at the half and completely blew the game open in the second.
Fans were treated to their first look at redshirt freshman quarterback Vad Lee who finished with 101 yards rushing and 82 passing. Lee's only completion was an 82 yard scoring strike to Jeff Greene that made the score 45-0. Lee also had a run of 79 yards in the game.
Tevin Washington scored a pair of touchdowns while throwing for 161 yards and rushing for 97 more. Zach Laskey led the team on the ground with 116 yards on 12 carries including a 56-yard touchdown on Tech's first possession. Greene finished with three receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown.

Georgia Tech takes a 24-0 lead into halftime of their matchup with Presbyterian. The Yellow Jackets have piled up over 350 yards of total offense but two lost fumbles have prevented this from becoming a complete blowout.
B-back Zach Laskey got the scoring started for the Yellow Jackets with a 56 yard touchdown run to put Tech up early. Tevin Washington followed with a 58-yard scoring run to extend the lead to 14-0. The Yellow Jackets would add one more touchdown in the first quarter when Synjyn Days capped off a 51-yard drive with a three yard run to make the score 21-0. The Yellow Jackets would tack on a field goal just before halftime to make the score 24-0.
The Yellow Jackets have a 352-93 advantage in total yards. Zach Laskey leads the way for the Yellow Jackets rushing for 104 yards on nine carries. Washington has 89 yards on the ground and 70 more through the air. Jeremy Moore caught two passes for 58 yards including a 50-yard reception from Washington.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will look to notch their first win of the 2012 season when they host the Presbyterian Blue Hose on Saturday night in Bobby Dodd Stadium. The Yellow Jackets will have a short turnaround after facing the Virgina Tech Hokies on Monday night.
Georgia Tech lost a heartbreaker in that matchup, as they let a fourth-quarter lead slip away and eventually fell in overtime, 20-17, to the Hokies. The defensive battle saw the Yellow Jackets' potent option attack struggle to get going, as they could muster only 3.5 yards per carry.
Presbyterian, out of the FCS, posted a 45-10 opening-weekend win over Brevard. Running back DeMarcus Rouse carried the ball eight times for 83 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.
The last game for Presbyterian saw only 3,439 people in the stands. It is going to be a vastly different atmosphere at Georgia Tech, where the crowd will be well over 50,000.
Game time, TV channel: 7 p.m. ET, ESPN3 (streaming online).
Spread: Vegas does not post a line for games involving FCS teams.

While we’re here, let’s watch some of the many college football videos from SB Nation’s YouTube channel:
With injuries plaguing Georgia Tech in a few places, there are several reserves who have an opportunity to step up and earn more playing time, including defensive back Jamal Golden and linebacker Jabari Hunt-Days. Offensive lineman Morgan Bailey is just trying to get over the latest in a string of injuries.
"I just think I'm bad luck right now," Bailey said. "When I'm out there, I think I'm doing good. I've just got to stay out there."
When he stayed healthy for most of spring practice, he was promoted to the top of the depth chart at right tackle by the end of it. Bailey said his performance stemmed from being injury-free.

Bailey, who is working his way back from a high-ankle sprain, was listed as questionable on Thursday's injury report. Golden is starting for injured safety Fred Holton and Hunt-Days is playing in place of the suspended Daniel Drummond. Drummond's suspension ends at halftime of Saturday's game.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets cornerback Louis Young could play his first game since last November on Saturday. Young was suspended for last year's Sun Bowl as well as Monday's game against the Virginia Tech Hokies for selling tickets to last year's game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Young actually posted about his suspension on his Facebook page.
Last year I made a terrible decision & I was suspended for the bowl game last year & this past Monday night game vs. VT. I disappointed my family, friends, coaches, but most of all I disappointed my teammates. I'm blessed they forgave me & I'm just ready to be a dependable teammate for my team & train every day to be a playmaker. The past is the past, now let's go get this [ACC championship].

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will be moving starters around for Saturday's game. In Thursday's depth chart, sophomores Zach Laskey and Darren Waller as well as redshirt freshman Bryan Chamberlain will start for the Yellow Jackets against the Presbyterian Blue Hose.
Waller, a wide receiver, takes the spot held by Jeff Greene in the loss against Virginia Tech. Laskey, a B-back, will replace Charles Perkins, who had three carries for five yards against Virginia Tech. Chamberlain, an offensive tackle, will take the place of Ray Beno who will switch from the left to the right side of the offensive line.
The Yellow Jackets will play Presbyterian on Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.com.

As you might suspect, there's a good story behind how an FCS school named "Presbyterian" came to be on Georgia Tech's 2012 football schedule.
The problem began when ESPN demanded that the Yellow Jackets game against Virginia Tech be played on Labor Day. Paul Johnson didn't want to do it, but when a TV network is writing multi-billion dollar checks, it tends to get its way.
That decision began a long chain reaction, which Ken Sugira of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution outlines here.
Georgia Tech didn't want to play Middle Tennessee State on a short week, so they moved that game to Sept. 29. But with their original opening week FCS opponent (Southeastern Louisiana) playing Missouri instead, Yellow Jackets associate AD Sam Banford had to burn up the phone lines for weeks last year to find a replacement.
After hundreds of phone calls, he finally found a school willing to move their schedule around for $400,000. The end result may not be the most entertaining game in the world, but Georgia Tech is almost certain to be 1-1 at this time next week.

The Georgia Tech offense struggled out of the gate against Virginia Tech on Monday, and Yellow Jackets head coach Paul Johnson is going to mix things up. Georgia Tech averaged just 3.7 yards per play against the Hokies after putting up 6.8 in 2011.
The wide receiver position will see some change on Saturday, according to ajc.com:
Johnson said on his radio show on 790 the Zone Wednesday night that freshman wide receiver Anthony Autry would get playing time Saturday and indicated that wide receiver Darren Waller would probably start. He also said that an appeal for wide receiver Chris Jackson, who was held out of Monday’s game because of an academic matter concerning his credit hours, was denied and that he’ll miss four games.
Autry and Waller did not have any catches or rushes in the season-opening loss. The Yellow Jackets will face Presbyterian on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.

Georgia Tech was close to escaping Blacksburg with a win over Virginia Tech on Monday night, but the Ramblin' Wreck eventually came up short in overtime. Yellow Jackets head coach Paul Johnson said his team's performance in several different areas left a lot to be desired.
After reviewing the Virginia Tech game video, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson was not especially impressed with much of anything, including the coaching staff.
Asked about the play of the B-backs, Johnson replied, "There was a lot I saw that I didn't like. Not just at that position. There were several positions."

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets came out of their Week 1 overtime loss against the Virginia Tech Hokies injury-free -- the only players who are not playing on Saturday against the Presbyterian Blue Hose of the Football Championship Subdivision are those who have suffered injuries prior to the season. Running back David Sims is still questionable this weekend and may sit out to give him more time to recover from the stress fracture he suffered in his shin.
Running back Orwin Smith, however, should be able to go on Saturday, and is said to be fine after suffering a shoulder injury in the third quarter against Virginia Tech. Three defensive players are expected to be out on Saturday -- safety Fred Holton, who was held out against the Hokies; cornerback Louis Young, who is out with a hand injury; and linebacker Daniel Drummond, who is still recovering from an ankle sprain.
Offensive tackle Morgan Bailey will be able to play, but he will not be starting. That responsibility will go to Tyler Kidney.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets hope for a rebound against the Presbyterian Blue Hose on Saturday.

Georgia Tech fans are probably wondering about Orwin Smith's status after leaving Monday night's game against Virginia Tech with a shoulder injury. Fortunately for the Jackets, it doesn't appear to be all that serious.
Smith wasn't particularly effective in the running game leading up to his injury, but no doubt Tech is going to rely on him for much of the year. Here's Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Smith in his game notes:
A-back Orwin Smith hurt his shoulder in the third quarter and did not return. He said following the game that "it doesn't feel too bad. We'll take this week lightly and I should be out there Saturday."
Smith finished with four rushes for three yards, his career-low yardage total for a game in which he had more than one carry. He was far more effective catching the ball, contributing 52 yards on four receptions.
Aside from not having Smith at his best on Monday night, in the end, it was still Tech's defense that came up empty at the end of the game, despite playing well in stretches.
