Braves Vs. Mets Score: Rain Halts Play With Atlanta Leading 8-2

Stay connected for news and updates

Heavy rains in New York might be forcing the Braves to take home an early win as they lead the New York Mets going into the bottom of the 7th inning 8-2.

Baseball rules state that the game can be called an official game and won't have to be made up if either team is ahead and the game has completed the bottom half of the 5th inning.

Kris Medlen pitched six strong innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out three. Brian McCann had a strong day at the plate, hitting his 19th home run and ending up a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. McCann has four RBIs for the first time since July 6 in a game against the Phillies.

The Braves jumped out to an early lead, running Jeremy Hefner out of the game by the third inning after garnering eight hits and five runs against him.
