Dan Uggla is now tied for second among Atlanta Braves with a 29-game hitting streak. Keep track of his quest for history inside...

When the Braves acquired Dan Uggla last off-season they expected many things out of the All-Star second baseman. A lot of home runs, doubles, runs batted in and sub-par defense all come to mind. A 29-game hitting streak? Not so much. Yet by one way or another and a little bit of luck, Dan Uggla has the third longest hitting streak of any Atlanta Brave.

With his infield single on Monday, August 8, Uggla recorded his 29th consecutive game with a hit. He passed Marquis Grissom on Sunday and is now tied with Rowland Office for second-longest in franchise history. He trails Rico Carty and his streak of 31 games by just two. Joe DiMaggio holds the all-time record at 56 games, a record that has been held since 1941. Willie Keeler holds the National League record at 45 games.

Regardless if Uggla's streak is broken tomorrow, the next day, or after he breaks DiMaggio's record, it has been a fun ride for Braves fans. For a player who just couldn't catch a break the first three months of the season, the slugging second baseman has been on fire for weeks now. Let's just hope his good play continues, hitting streak or not.
