Brooks Conrad Signs With Brewers, Ending His Weird Tenure With The Atlanta Braves

Brooks Conrad had quite the tenure with the Atlanta Braves. The scrappy infielder who earned himself the name 'Raw Dog' for his no-nonsense approach to the game was non-tendered by the Braves a few months ago and was free to pursue other options around baseball. Some believed he may return to Atlanta on a Minor League deal, but Conrad has found himself a spot with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Brooks will never be forgotten in Atlanta, nor will he ever likely be forgiven.

Conrad made a name for himself coming off the bench in 2010 and would seemingly always come through with the big hit late in the game. On a team that led baseball in final at-bat victories, Conrad accounted for many of them. And while he was never known for his glove, he did a decent job filling in every once in a while at second base.

Then came the 2010 NLDS.

We all know the heartbreaking story: Conrad mades an unthinkable amount of errors in the field, one of which directly leads to a San Francisco Giants victory. He was booed off Turner Field and will never be forgiven for the mistakes he made in that four-game series.

To be fair, Conrad should have been put into that situation. He was always viewed as an average fielder (at best) and only had to play because of a ridiculous amount of injuries that hit the club in August and September. Bobby Cox simply had no other options on his roster.

The Braves would not have made the playoffs in 2010 without Conrad, and they saw their season end mostly because of Conrad. It was a story that you would only believe if you could see it with your very own eyes.
