Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman went down on Tuesday with a "minor" knee injury in Spring Training thought to keep him out for two weeks, although just a day later he seems to be improving already:
Freddie Freeman was still limping this morning, but he was moving better than yesterday. He's hoping to at least be swinging a bat next wk— Mark Bowman (@mlbbowman) February 29, 2012
Freeman himself was optimistic when Tweeting out his own injury update:
Feeling a little better today! Shooting for a very fast recovery! Keep the prayers coming!— Freddie Freeman (@FreddieFreeman) February 29, 2012
Bowman reported that Freeman suffered what the first baseman assumes to be the exact same injury while playing in Triple A during the 2010 season, and that the recovery time was two weeks. Even if Freeman, a surefire Opening Day starter at first base, misses two weeks, he'll still have two more worth of exhibition games before the start of the season. Expect utility infielder Eric Hinkse to see the most time at first while Freeman recovers.
