Atlanta Braves Continue Losing Ways Against Detroit Tigers As Jair Jurrjens Gets Destroyed

It's probably a good thing the Atlanta Braves will not see the Detroit Tigers in the regular season, seeing as they've gotten absolutely pounded this spring whenever they take on Prince Fielder and Co. After a 7-2 shellacking on Tuesday afternoon, the club is now 0-3 in Spring Training against the Tigers and the pitching staff has surrendered a ton of runs in those games.

Jair Jurrjens made the start and struggled mightily, although a bad spot on the pitching mound had him off balance throughout the game. He even fell down a few times after losing his footing. The 25-year-old allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out two. Jurrjens' ERA in Spring Training is now 10.13. Yikes.

Craig Kimbrel worked a perfect inning in relief, striking out two of the three batters he faced. Cristhian Martinez continued his fine work on the mound by working two shutout innings without allowing a runner to reach base.

The Braves faced Justin Verlander and were unable to do much offensively. Eric Hinske drove in the two runs of the game with a bases loaded single in the third. Jason Heyward was robbed of a home run because of heavy wind blowing in from right field.

Atlanta will look to get back on track tomorrow afternoon against the Washington Nationals.
