Braves Spring Training: Atlanta Rallies Late, Knocks Off Nationals In 10th Inning

The Braves were held scoreless with just four hits through eight innings, but a late rally in the ninth against the Washington Nationals tied the game at 1-1 before the Braves came away in the 10th with the 3-2 victory. Tommy Hanson made the start and worked four strong innings, allowing just one hit, a walk and an unearned run. He struck out two batters and improved his Spring Training ERA to 2.57.

Adam Russell worked an inning of relief and allowed two hits. Jairo Asencio continued to impress the coaching staff and struck out two batters in his inning of work. Anthony Varvaro also got back on track with a scoreless seventh inning.

John Lannan was impressive for the Nationals and worked four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and a walk. He also struck out two.

Jordan Parraz tied the game in the ninth with a sharp RBI-single through the right side to score David Rohm. In extra innings, Jose Constanza reached on a fielding error by second baseman Danny Espinosa which allowed a run to score. Rohm then hit a sacrifice fly to left to bring in Tyler Pastornicky.

The Nationals brought one run across the plate in the bottom half of the 10th, but that was all they could muster.

The Braves are now 6-13-2 this spring, while Washington drops to 5-10-2. Atlanta will take on the Marlins on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 ET.
