Spring Training 2012: Braves Fall 2-1 To Tigers In Rain Shortened Game

Stay connected for news and updates

Saturday's matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers was a pitchers duel that lasted only six innings due to rain, and also a 2-1 loss for the Braves.

Both Justin Verlander and Tommy Hanson pitched six innings today with Verlander striking out five and allowing four hits while Hanson allowed five hits, two runs and struck out one batter. This was Hanson's last spring training start before he takes the mound on opening day next week.

The Braves trailed the game after the top of the first when the Tigers scored a run when Miguel Cabrera knocked in Austin Jackson. In the bottom of the fourth the Braves tied the game when Dan Uggla had an RBI and sent home Freddie Freeman to tie the game at one apiece. The game winning score came in the top of the fifth inning when Clete Thomas hit a solo home run off of Hanson.
