The Houston Astros presented Chipper Jones with a Stetson cowboy hat prior to Monday's series opener.
The Chipper Jones farewell tour officially got underway Monday in Houston when former Astros great Craig Biggio presented Jones with a Stetson cowboy hat in a ceremony prior to the game. It is the first of several such ceremonies that the eventual Hall of Fame third baseman will be a part of this season.
"Really cool. Classy gesture by the Astros organization. I can wear it out on the ranch. Houston's always been special to me because it's the one place my parents get to come. There's a ton of Braves fans here, we've had a ton of great games here in my tenure here with the Braves against Houston, so it's awfully nice of them to do that."
Jones had arthroscopic surgery on his knee at the end of spring training but is expected to be activated and in the lineup for Tuesday night's game against the Astros.
