Tim Hudson took yet another big step to returning to the Major Leagues on Wednesday evening, throwing five innings and allowing just one unearned run in a rehab start with the Gwinnett Braves. The veteran righty felt no ill-effects from his surgically repaired lower back, likely meaning he will need just one more start in the Minors before joining the Atlanta Braves once again.

Hudson threw 76 pitches on Wednesday (48 for strikes) and set down 12 straight batters at one point. He allowed just two hits and walked three batters, striking out four.

Look for Hudson to throw upwards of 90 pitches in his final rehab start next week, and assuming he does not have setbacks following that appearance, it appears that he may be on pace to pitch in the final weekend of April against the Pirates at Turner Field.
