Fredi Gonzalez Talks Losing Streak, Health

Forgive Braves fans if they get upset at the first sign of a losing streak as that is what living through a September like last season will do to you. Still a quick peak at the standings shows that when this seven game losing streak started Atlanta was in first place and now sit one game ahead of last place Philadelphia. Slumps in May and June can be overcome much easier than those in September and the team isn't anywhere near healthy at this point whether manager Fredi Gonzalez wants to use that as an excuse or not.

"You come in every morning and you get the stat pack and you see the division is still up for grabs. It really is. It's early but you want to win ball games. Any time you get an opportunity to win ball games, you've got to win them. We had some opportunities in Cincinnati and we got swept four games. But our pitching was pretty good. A couple of the games were one-run games and we just didn't hit. This series, we didn't pitch so well at times. I think [Tim Hudson] pitched a hell of a game. We still haven't swung the bats. Tomorrow it's going to be bunched up. These guys will be up four games and the rest of the division is right there - us, the Marlins, the Mets, the Phillies. It's still up for grabs. We've got over 100 games to go. I'm sure there will be a lot of winning streaks before the season is over."
