Braves Vs. Yankees: Ivan Nova Shuts Down Atlanta In 3-0 Braves Loss

Ivan Nova allowed five hits over seven scoreless innings, helping his own cause with his first-career Major League hit, as the Yankees downed the Braves 3-0 on Monday night in Atlanta.

The Yankees opened the scoring in the first inning, when Robinson Cano singled to center to score Alex Rodriguez. That would turn out to be all New York needed. In the second, Raul Ibanez hit a solo home run to double the lead. In the third inning, Randall Delgado threw a wild pitch that allowed Rodriguez to score from third.

Four Yankee relievers combined to allow zero Atlanta baserunners in the final two innings.

Delgado went five innings in the start for Atlanta, allowing the three earned runs on five hits and six walks, while striking out five. Michael Bourn and Martin Prado each went 1-for-4 at the plate. The Braves have now lost back-to-back games since a six-game winning streak.
