The Braves have not scored a run in their last 20 innings.
Interleague play has not treated the Atlanta Braves well so far this season. They have dropped seven of their 12 games, including a three-game sweep to the New York Yankees earlier this month.
Atlanta will now get another shot at the Yankees as it heads to the Bronx. The Braves offense has been scuffling lately, scoring zero runs in its last 20 innings. There will be no rest for the weary against New York, who will throw CC Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda and Phil Hughes against Atlanta.
For the Braves, it might have to be the pitching that gives the team a chance to win. Atlanta will send struggling Mike Minor to the hill followed by Tim Hudson and Tommy Hanson.
As the series begins, Atlanta is 35-31, which is good enough for the second Wild Card in the National League.
