Atlanta Braves, Tim Hudson Dismantle Diamondbacks In 8-1 Blowout Victory

The Atlanta Braves went into Tuesday's game with a new and improved lineup with Jason Heyward batting second, and the club responded in a big way. The club knocked out 17 hits against Daniel Hudson and the Arizona Diamondbacks' bullpen, scoring eight runs in the process.

Tim Hudson was great in eight innings of work. The veteran righty tossed eight innings of one-run ball, with the lone run coming on a Jason Kubel home run. Hudson surrendered just seven hits and a walk. He struck out seven as he improved his record to 6-3.

The other Hudson, Daniel, exited in the second inning with an apparent arm injury. No word on the severity of the injury, but it was yet another setback for the young right-handed hurler.

Michael Bourn led off the game with a solo homer, his seventh of the season. Atlanta added on four runs in the second inning, aided by back-to-back-to-back doubles from Chipper Jones, Freddie Freeman and Andrelton Simmons.

The Braves added on two more insurance runs in the seventh inning on a fielder's choice grounder from Freeman and a sacrifice fly from Hudson, and McCann drove home yet another run with an RBI-single in the eighth to push the lead to 8-1.

Anthony Varvaro worked a scoreless ninth inning to close the door.
