The Braves are only three games back of the Nationals for the N.L. East lead.
The Atlanta Braves were able to make up one game on division-leading Washington Nationals this week, but still remain three games back. At the All-Star break the Braves were four games behind of the Nationals, but after a sweep of the Mets, and the Nationals going 2-1 against the Marlins the Braves are now three games back of first place.
The Mets were making the N.L. East race interesting but being swept by the Braves dropped them to 6.5 games back of the Nationals.
The Braves have a chance to make up ground with the Nationals as they begin a four-game series on Friday as they travel on the road to take on the Nationals.
The next series for the Braves is a three-game home stand against the Giants.
