Braves Vs. Nationals Final Score: Atlanta Starter Jair Jurrjens Gives Up 6 Runs In Loss To Washington

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Jair Jurrjens had a tough time on Sunday as he was knocked around in 2.1 innings of work. Jurrjens allowed nine hits -- two which here home runs -- and six earned runs, and the Braves offense was never able to recover as they lost 9-2 against the Washington Nationals.

The Nationals Ryan Zimmerman did most of the damage against Jurrjens as he hit two home runs and had three RBI's, the home runs cae in the first inning and the second one coming in the third inning. Jurrjens was finally pulled after getting one out in the third inning, but by then the Braves were trailing 6-0.

The Braves went to Luis Avilan to replace Jurrjens but he did not fare much better as he allowed a pair of runs in the fifth inning when Sandy Leon hit a two-run RBI double to put the game out of reach at 8-0 in favor of the Nationals.

Nationals starting pitcher Ross Detwiler held the Braves in check for the most of the game. He lasted seven innings, allowed seven hits and let two runs cross the plate but only one was earned.

The sixth inning is when the Braves were able to get on the board against Detwiler as they scored a pair of runs when Mike Prado scored on a passed ball, and the other run came when Jason Hayward scored from third base as Freddie Freeman grounded out to first base. That would be the only runs that the Braves would score on the day.
