The fiasco that is the Chicago Cubs trying to trade starting pitcher Ryan Dempster just got a little more interesting. The veteran right-hander has been fighting hard against a trade to the Atlanta Braves who have had the most attractive offer for his services thus far.
It appears that the Cubs want to get this deal done so badly that they've decided to up the ante, literally, according to Joel Sherman, baseball columnist for the New York Post:
kick in $1M extra to convince Demspter to go to Atl, viewing someone like Randall Delgado as worth several million for next few yrs in value— Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) July 26, 2012
It looks like Dempster has a lot to think about.
