Brett Favre's Consecutive Games Streak To End Tonight: Falcons Draftee Started 297 Straight

Stay connected for news and updates

We're now living in a world in which typing the words Brett Favre is out tonight is an activity that actually has meaning. Did you ever think you'd see the day? The Minnesota Vikings QB is out due to a right shoulder injury, though he's also suffering from various chest and ankle and old man injuries.

The Atlanta Falcons drafted Favre in the second round of the 1991 NFL Draft. They traded him away shortly after for a mountain of sawdust Jerry Glanville hoped to shape into an approximation of Elvis Presley's haircut, though the gambit never panned out. Packers doctors recommended the trade be nullified due to Favre's physical, but GM Ron Wolf overruled them. If he hadn't, Favre's streak would've eventually begun in Atlanta. Though it's hard to imagine it would've lasted this long.

The Falcons were the only team Favre played for without starting a game. He entered two contests, throwing a pair of picks, and went on to set just about every career record a quarterback can set.
