The Houston Texans are slapping together a quarterback depth chart in advance of their game against the Atlanta Falcons.

T.J. Yates, former Marietta high school star and North Carolina Tar Heels starter, has been handed the role of Houston Texans starting quarterback. Starter Matt Schaub suffered a season-ending injury, and Matt Leinart is also out. So it's up to the rookie, who'll get his first start this week against the Atlanta Falcons

Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter Texans plan to sign either Jake Delhomme or Jeff Garcia today as a backup for T.J. Yates.

Many a Falcons fan has fond memories of Delhomme, though beneath those memories are also some less-fond memories of Delhomme. He used to be pretty good! Still, the recent memories of Delhomme are very fond.

Garcia is a guy who I'd assumed had retired like five years ago. Maybe that's not the case. His last season with more than one appearance came in 2008 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Likewise, Delhomme hasn't played since giving up the Cleveland Browns job to Colt McCoy last year.
