The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they had signed tight end Ryan Winterswyk to the practice squad. Winterswyk, who played defensive end at Boise State, was with the Falcons during training camp but suffered a severe high ankle sprain that needed six weeks of rehab to heal.
Winterswyk's agent, Jason Bernstein, said that his client was completely recovered from his injury in training camp.
"He's 100 percent now," Bernstein said. "He worked out for them today and it went well."
To make room on the roster the Falcons waived tight end Tommy Gallarda from the practice squad who they signed on September 12.
Winterswyk is a former walk on at Boise State who primarily played defensive end before injuries pressed him into some tight end duty late last season for the Broncos. He was a three-time All-WAC selection as a defensive end.
