Stay connected for news and updates

The Atlanta Falcons announced on Tuesday that they had placed Kelvin Hayden and Mike Peterson on season ending injured reserve.

The Atlanta Falcons are headed to the playoffs but will be without two defensive players after announcing that cornerback Kelvin Hayden and linebacker Mike Peterson have been placed on injured reserve thus ending their season.

Kelvin Hayden had missed time in recent weeks with a dislocated toe. Dominique Franks will step in as the Falcons' nickel corner. Hayden saw action in eight games for the Falcons this season totaling 24 tackles and two interceptions. Franks has played in 12 games and has 10 tackles and no interceptions this season.

Mike Peterson's injury has still not been announced by the team. He recorded four tackles against the Saints in Atlanta's Monday night loss. Peterson has appeared in 14 games for the Falcons and recorded 24 tackles and one interception. His loss means that rookie Akeem Dent is now the backup at outside linebacker.
