Brent Grimes, Miko Grimes Say He'll Sign And Report To Falcons Camp

Brent Grimes and wife (and manager) Miko Grimes paid a visit to 790 The Zone's 2 Live Stews program Tuesday afternoon, where both insisted Grimes would sign his restricted free agent tender and report to camp on Thursday. But let's back up, as plenty of drama preceded that assurance.

Tuesday morning, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported Falcons free agent cornerback Brent Grimes had expressed displeasure regarding Atlanta's offer of a $2.61 million contract, using the headline, "Brent Grimes turning up his nose at $2.61 million?" As is standard for writers to do nowadays, he posted a link to that story on his Twitter account with the same headline. He also tagged Grimes' Twitter account in the post.

Grimes himself saw it, and responded in this way to Ledbetter:

@AJCFalcons stop trying to paint me in a negative light... I can't practice until the 4th, you don't know what I have going on right nowless than a minute ago via Twittelator Favorite Retweet Reply

@AJCFalcons like I said you dont know wht i have going on. Just dont try & make me out as not appreciating wht the Falcons have offered meless than a minute ago via Twittelator Favorite Retweet Reply

Ledbetter responded by asking Grimes to have his agent call him to explain the situation. Fair enough, right? End of discussion?

Nope. Because then Grimes' wife Miko got involved. And that's where this story takes a turn.

Many of Mrs. Grimes' messages are unsuitable to republish in this space, but they're similar in that they all question Ledbetter's intelligence and integrity. Mrs. Grimes contends that restricted free agents can't report to training camp until Aug. 4, a fact of which Ledbetter should have been aware, in her opinion.

The tweet below is fairly typical of ones Mrs. Grimes has sent Ledbetter, with one notable exception: it contains no profanity.

@ajcfalcons and dont even THINK ABOUT getting an interview from him either! I hope he SPITS IN YOUR FACE when u ask him a question!less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

Grimes, a four-year veteran, earned his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2010, his first year as a full-time starter.

What an exciting day so far!
