PHOTO: Roddy White's Red, White And Blue Shoes For 9/11 Anniversary

Stay connected for news and updates

Earlier Friday, Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs declared he intends to wear star-spangled Reebok cleats and gloves on Sept. 11, which is a violation of NFL fashion rules. Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles joined in, and at some point you had to just imagine the backlash the NFL would catch if it tried to fine players for paying uniform tribute to the American flag on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White will also participate, making for at least two players in the Falcons-Bears game to be decked out in patriotic Reeboks. But since these pictures appear on the team's official site, I'm going to guess that's all been worked out.

The NFL (especially when on FOX) often goes overboard with the flag-waving, but I think we can agree that this weekend merits a strong show of colors. Looking forward to seeing these in action.
