Super Bowl Recipes: Former Atlanta Falcons Legend Tommy Nobis And His 'Forgotten Cookies'

Stay connected for news and updates

Back in 1965, the Atlanta Falcons made Tommy Nobis the first player ever drafted by the expansion franchise. Since then, "Mr. Falcon" became a five-time Pro Bowler and was the first face of the franchise. Now long retired, one of the things Nobis enjoys is baking cookies. His favorite is his "Forgotten Cookies" and promises that you can't eat just one for Super Bowl Sunday.

Courtesy of Epicurious, here is Tommy and Lynne Nobis' recipe for Forgotten Cookies:

Ingredients

3 large egg whites
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped or 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Preheat oven 225°F.

Whip egg whites until very stiff. Gradually add sugar. Add vanilla.
Fold in pecans or chocolate chips.

Spoon onto wax paper-lined cookie sheet. Bake for 2 hours.

Lynne, sheepishly says "isn't real exciting" but if the Super Bowl is a dud, at least you'll have some delicious cookies.
