Mario Williams Free Agency: Falcons, Seahawks, Bears Among Reported Candidates

Stay connected for news and updates

Houston Texans defensive end Mario Williams, the top trophy in this year's NFL free agency derby, is going to draw a lot of interest around the league. The Texans went and dumped perhaps their best player, right tackle Eric Winston, in what looks like an attempt to free up enough cash to keep him around, but there's a lot of competition out there.

John Clayton names the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks as the "favorites" to obtain Williams' services. Clayton thinks that $15 million price range is too much for teams that would use him as a 3-4 rush linebacker. Though the Falcons could use some 3-4 under new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, of course.

The Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars are also popping up in reports, as are the New England Patriots. We'll choose to ignore all of those and instead dwell on the part where John Clayton said Mario Williams is all ours. That's what he said, right?
