Asante Samuel Trade Rumors: Falcons Negotiating With Eagles For Veteran Cornerback

The Philadelphia Enquirer is reporting that the rumor that has the Eagles trading cornerback Asante Samuel to the Atlanta Falcons is heating up, and that the draft compensation that has been agreed upon is a "late round pick." The deal hasn't been finalized yet and the Enquirer's Jeff McLane has more details:

The hangup with getting a deal done again isn't over compensation. The Eagles were in discussions with Denver last week, but the 31-year-old Samuel balked at the Broncos' request to restructure his contract. Samuel has agreed to rework his deal, sources have said, but apparently he's looking to keep most of the approximately $10 million he's slated to earn next season. The Falcons, like the Broncos, are probably offering a late-round draft pick.

Samuel would join Dunta Robinson and Brent Grimes in the Falcons secondary. The 31-year-old had 34 tackles, 3 interceptions and 1 forced fumble last season.
