Asante Samuel Trade: Falcons Agree To Three-Year Deal With Eagles CB

Stay connected for news and updates

The last hurdle to the Atlanta Falcons acquisition of Philadelphia Eagles CB Asante Samuel has been cleared, as Atlanta has agreed to a re-worked contract with Samuel's representatives:

Samuel, a 5'10 185 CB in his tenth season out of Central Florida, has been one of the NFL's premier ball-hawks throughout his career with the Eagles and New England Patriots.

Last season, while splitting time with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Nnamdi Asomugha, he had 3 interceptions, moving his career total to 45.

The three-year deal would keep him in Atlanta until his age-34 season and will likely be his last big contract in the NFL, as few CB's can excel into their mid-30's in a position where speed is so important.
