Atlanta Falcons To Add Chris Polian To Front Office, According To Report

If reports hold true, the Atlanta Falcons could be adding ex-general manager Chris Polian to their ranks.

The Atlanta Falcons are expected to hire ex-Colts GM Chris Polian to an undisclosed position in the personnel department, according to Pro Football Talk.

Polian was fired by Jim Irsay after the Colts stumbled to a 2-14 record in 2011, part of which was due to a noticeable lack of talent on the roster.

Polian's actual track record as a GM is spotty, most notably drafting Donald Brown and Jerry Hughes in the first rounds while head man in Indianapolis' war room, both whom have yet to impress at the NFL level. Some would credit his initial promotion in 2009 to strong influence from his father and then-team president, Bill, rather than his proficiency at evaluating players.

However, the addition of Polian to the front office does not necessarily mean any current Falcons staff member will be let go, and Thomas Dimitroff will still be making all player-related decisions. At the very least, the Falcons are adding an experienced NFL man to their ranks.

An official team announcement regarding the hire is expected to be made on Monday.
