Falcons Free Agency 2012: Kelvin Hayden Signs With Chicago Bears, According To Sources

The Atlanta Falcons secondary got thinner Thursday, as corner back Kelvin Hayden decided to not return to the for the 2012-13 season, instead, he will be playing for the Chicago Bears, said the team Thursday. Hayden inked a one-year deal with the Bears and leaves a Falcons' squad, which lost backup safety James Sanders on Wednesday, a bit shorthanded in the secondary.

Hayden's contract is worth a veteran minimum $825,000, according to a source familiar with the situation.

The departure of both players creates a very thin secondary for Atlanta, which used Hayden as a nickle corner last season. Now, Dominique Franks and Christopher Owens will be asked to step into that roll.

Last season, Hayden played in just eight games with the Falcons, making one start and snagging two interceptions.
