2012 Atlanta Falcons Minicamp: Linebacker Robert James Competing For Playing Time

While talk of the Atlanta Falcons' linebacking corps has centered around the departure of leader Curtis Lofton, the ascension of Sean Weatherspoon and the potential changes in Mike Nolan's hybrid 3-4 / 4-3 schemes, the AJC is reporting that Robert James, drafted by Atlanta way back in 2008, might have a shot at seeing consistent time on the field this season.

James has had little success since arriving in the league, missing the 2009 season with a concussion and earning a four-game suspension for a violation of the league performance enhancement policy in 2010. James was waived by the Falcons afterwards, then resigned to the practice squad and appeared in the final game of that season against Tampa Bay. Following preseason in 2011, James was cut again, then resigned to the practice squad again, and saw action on special teams when veteran Mike Peterson went down in December.
