2012 Atlanta Falcons Offseason: Falcons, Titans To Start Annual Scrimmage

The Atlanta Falcons have released their practice schedule for 2012, with another "Friday Night Lights" scrimmage, as well as a new ongoing practice agreement with the nearby Tennessee Titans.

Looking to establish a little tradition in the dog days of summer, the Atlanta Falcons announced they'll travel north up I-75 to Dalton, Georgia, roughly halfway between Atlanta and Nashville, Tennessee, to scrimmage the Titans on August 6 at Coahulla Creek High School.

The Nashville Tennessean reports that the two teams have been planning the event for years, but the lockout stopped plans in 2011:

Titans coach Mike Munchak and Falcons coach Mike Smith had been working out the details for some time. The two teams also trained together in 2004.

"Going against other teams, in general, is good for your team, especially when you have a young team like we do," Munchak said. "I talked to coach Smith about it last year, but because of the lockout it was too hard to plan something like this."

The Falcons also announced they'll hold another "Friday Night Lights" scrimmage at Peachtree Ridge High School.
