Atlanta brings two veteran players into the fold following a couple of unfortunate preseason injuries, among other moves.

The Atlanta Falcons have added veteran FB Lousaka Polite and TE Chase Coffman to their roster, according to a release on the team's website.

In addition, the team has formally placed rookie FB Bradie Ewing on season-ending injured reserve following an ACL tear against the Ravens, waived injured TE Adam Nissley, and released backup punter Dawson Zimmerman.

Polite, formerly of the New England Patriots, was released this offseason after they added two other fullbacks via free agency. Primarily a blocking fullback, he saw his share of action once the Pats hit the postseason, appearing in all three of their playoff games.

While likely a downgrade from what Ewing brought to the table, Polite should at least come in and compete with new front-runner Mike Cox for the starting job. Ewing, on the other hand, is just one in a string of Falcons rookies that have suffered unlucky injuries in recent years.

Coffman, a former third-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, was waived by Tampa Bay last week, and should compete with a slew of other backup tight ends that have failed to distinguish themselves thus far in training camp.
