Hawks Vs. Nets Score: Atlanta Takes 28-11 Lead After One In New Jersey

Stay connected for news and updates

The Atlanta Hawks jumped out to an early 28-11 lead after one quarter in their season opener against the New Jersey Nets. One of the biggest questions surrounding the team coming into the season was about how their rebuilt bench would perform. If the first quarter is any indication then the Hawks are going to be just fine.

Vladimir Radmanovic and Tracy McGrady combined for 13 points in the first quarter while the rest of the team swarmed on defense holding the Nets to just 5-22 shooting in the quarter. All five Atlanta starters scored led by Marvin Williams who hit his first two three-point attempts to finish with six points. Josh Smith has just two points but leads the team with four rebounds and two assists.

Atlanta has done a good job of flying around and disrupting the Nets in the early going. Deron Williams has five points but was harassed into 2-7 shooting. Kris Humphries finished with four points in the first.
