Wizards Vs. Hawks: Marvin Williams, Jeff Teague Solid In Two Atlanta Wins

It has just been two games but Jeff Teague as the starting point guard for the Atlanta Hawks looks pretty good. In two games he is averaging 12 points and four assists while making 50 percent of his shots. However, it is defensively where Atlanta is benefiting the most in having Teague in the starting lineup.

In the opener, Teague helped harass New Jersey's Deron Williams into a 10 point, one assist, six turnover night in the Hawks 106-70 victory. Wednesday night brought another match-up with a dynamic point guard in Washington's John Wall who had better luck finishing with 20 points, six assists but also six turnovers. Although he was able to get to the free throw line, Wall wasn't terribly efficient going 6-15 from the field.

Marvin Williams has put together some good stretches in the past but off-season back surgery has him looking much more athletic this time around.

"Knock on wood, he looks pain-free," Drew said. "He's really shooting the ball well when he gets his feet set. When teams double on the block he has to be able to hit those shots. Last year when he caught the ball at times he wasn't even looking at the rim. Now when he's catching the ball in his shooting range he's looking to score."

In the first two games Atlanta has benefited from Williams and Teague's aggressiveness. The Hawks offense has been free flowing and hasn't required that the ball be forced through Joe Johnson, Al Horford or Josh Smith.
