Hawks Vs. Warriors Final Score: Atlanta Snaps Three Game Losing Streak With 95-79 Victory Over Golden State

Over the first three-quarters of the game, Atlanta showed you just how good they are capable of playing. Over the final twelve minutes of the game, they showed some of the things that has been ailing the team of late. Nevertheless Atlanta was able to grab a much-needed win 95-79 over the Golden State Warriors. The victory snaps Atlanta’s three game losing streak.

Turnovers hurt Atlanta late as the Warriors were able to cut into the lead during the fourth period. The Hawks finished with twenty-two turnovers and were outscored 24-14 in the fourth.

New acquisition Kirk Hinrich came off the bench in his Atlanta debut and finished with eight points and three assists. His presence at least for this game seemed to energize Atlanta who turned in one of their best performances in recent weeks.

The Hawks motion offense once again looks crisp and is getting Atlanta some good looks on the interior. Jeff Teague has helped to set the tone defensively for Atlanta who have done a good job of closing out on shooters while also closing down driving lanes.

Hawks Vs. Warriors Halftime Score: Atlanta Leads 55-35 At The Half

Kirk Hinrich’s debut was the major story going into tonight’s game but the Hawks have received a spark from the other point guard on the roster. Jeff Teague got the start tonight and has done the job defensively in the first half. Teague played 14 minutes in the first half scoring four points while handing out five assists. His presence has been felt the most on the defensive end of the floor.

Josh Smith leads all Hawks scorers with thirteen first half points. Al Horford joins him in double figures with ten points of his own. Atlanta shot 46% from the floor in the first half. After building an early fifteen point lead, Atlanta once again fell in love with the jump shot. After the Warriors had cut the lead back to nine, the Hawks once again took it inside and were able to stretch the lead back out to twenty at the half.

Monta Ellis scored fourteen first-half points for the Warriors while David Lee added ten. The Warriors shot just 33% in the first half and also committed fourteen turnovers.

Hawks Vs. Warriors Score: Atlanta Leads 29-17 In Kirk Hinrich's First Game

So far so good. If Atlanta was looking for a spark when it traded for Kirk Hinrich, then it appears they have received just that. Hinrich made his debut with Atlanta off the bench checking in with about six minutes to go in the first quarter. Hinrich buried his first three point attempt in a Hawks uniform.

Josh Smith got Atlanta off to a good start doing damage on the interior. Smith leads the Hawks with ten points, five rebounds, and three assists. Jamal Crawford came off the bench and buried two three pointers for his six points. Atlanta has looked much sharper on offense. Lately the offense has been plagued by a reliance on long jump shots. Tonight the Hawks went inside early before kicking out for wide open jump shots. Thus far the results have been promising with the team shooting 48% from the field in the first quarter.

Another big change was on the defensive end. The Hawks forced the Warriors into 6-21 shooting in the first quarter. They have appeared much more active. The goal now is to sustain this effort for the remainder of the game.
