The Atlanta Hawks sure as heck figured out a way to halt a 12 game winning streak over the Washington Wizards. Just plain embarrassing.
Andray Blatche had 23 points, and seven boards and John Wall added 19 to lead the Wizards to a 115-83 demolition of a shorthanded Hawks team.
It was the fourth 30-plus point loss by Atlanta this season. They looked terrible and couldn't handle a young, energetic Wizards team that outhustled the Hawks all night long.
The Hawks lost the battle of the boards 48-33. They committed 23 terrible turnovers and looked more like the team that belonged in the bottom of the Eastern Conference as opposed to the No. 5 seed in the East.
Yes, the game was meaningless with Atlanta's playoff seeding secured. And the game really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. But it should matter to professional basketball players. Instead, it seemed like some of the Hawks thought it was OK just to show up.
One exception was Al Horford, who netted 21 points and 10 rebounds in the contest. Joe Johnson had 16 and Jamal Crawford added 13 for the Hawks.
But Atlanta didn't get much a contribution from Kirk Hinrich, who had three points and five assists on 1-for-5 shooting from the field in his return against his former team. The other guy acquired by Atlanta - center Hilton Armstrong - had a bucket in this one. But Hinrich and Armstrong finished a combined -30 when they were on the court.
The Hawks shipped to Washington on the other hand played a little bit better. Maurice Evans netted 10 points and Jordan Crawford added six. Six is a low number for Jordan Crawford, who entered this one averaging 22 over his last 14 games.
Yi Jianlian added 15 points and Othyus Jeffers had 13 for Washington, which defeated Atlanta in our Nation's Capital for the first time since 2007.

The Atlanta Hawks are getting abused on the boards and utterly embarrassed against one of the worst teams in the league.
John Wall has 10 points and Andray Blatche added nine to post the Wizards to a 61-46 lead over the Hawks at the half.
Fomer Hawk Maurice Evans has eight points, including a tip in at the buzzer while rookie Jordan Crawford netted four points against his former team.
Washington has been the aggressor in this one. They hold a 26-13 edge on the glass and a 10-2 advantage on the offensive boards. The Wizards have also blocked six shots and forced 10 Hawks turnovers.
If not for some energy off of the bench by Jamal Crawford, this one would be much, much worse. Jamal Crawford posted 13 straight points while Atlanta was otherwise lackadaisical on offense. Joe Johnson added 10 for the Hawks.
Former Wizard Kirk Hinrich has three points while Hilton Armstrong is scoreless in the contest.
Al Horford and Marvin Williams netted eight points each for Atlanta, which is seeking its 13th straight win over Washington.

The Atlanta Hawks couldn't have played much worse of a first quarter against a terrible Washington Wizards team.
Andre Blatche netted nine points and John Wall added six to post the Wizards to a 29-18 lead through one quarter at the Verizon Center.
Former Hawk Maurice Evans has four points and Jordan Crawford has two in just 5:33 of action for Washington, which is trying to snap a 12 game losing streak to Atlanta.
The Hawks are getting run all over in this one. They shot just 35-percent (7-for-20) in the first, while the Wizards connected on 52-percent (11-for-21) of their shots. Atlanta's turned the ball over seven times and is losing the battle of the glass by a 15-7 margin.
This one is just plain ugly early.
Atlanta was forced to go to its bench with Zaza Pachulia and Joe Johnson picking up two first quarter fouls. The reserves haven't exactly been spectacular either.
Marvin Williams has six first quarter points while Johnson and Jeff Teague posted four each for Atlanta.
Former Wizards Kirk Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong were both scoreless in the first 12 minutes of the game.

The Atlanta Hawks meaningless game tour rolls into our Nation's Capital on Saturday. Washington, D.C. is still in business after Republicans and Democrats came to a last-minute deal to avert a government shutdown. The Washington Wizards on the other hand? They've been shut down by the Hawks for three years now.
However, this time the Wizards are facing Kirk Hinrich for the first time since the trade. Jordan Crawford is in a Washington uniform.
Hinrich's Hawks look to match a season-high four game losing streak when they take on the lowly Wizards on Saturday night at the Verizon Center (7:00 p.m., SportSouth, 97.9 FM).
Atlanta has had their way with Washington, posting an astounding 12 straight wins and seven straight at the Verizon Center over the past three-plus years. Of course, the Wizards have not been a very good franchise over that span, while the Hawks have made the playoffs in each season.
However, the Wizards boast one of the best young backcourts in the league. No. 1 pick John Wall is averaging just over 16 points a game in his rookie season, while Crawford has been on fire after he was given an opportunity to start everyday.
The former Hawk -- who was acquired in a five-player deal that shipped Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong to Atlanta -- is averaging 22 points over the last 14 games.
Atlanta will be shorthanded for this one. Josh Smith (sore knee) and Jason Collins (sore ankle) did not make the weekend's road trip to Indianapolis and D.C. Both players are expected to return in time for Monday night's home finale against the Miami Heat.
The Hawks faltered on Friday night, posting a 114-102 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Jeff Teague had 21 points and Joe Johnson 17 in the contest.
Washington is also coming off of a road drubbing, dropping a 104-88 decision to the Boston Celtics.
