Al Horford Injury: Hawks Star Out For Months, According To Reports

Stay connected for news and updates

According to several reports, Al Horford's season may over after only 11 games:

Marc J. Spears
Hawks center Al Horford expected to be out 3-4 months with torn left pectoral muscle, source tells Yahoo! Sports.

The Hawks All-Star suffered what was initially thought to be a shoulder injury in Atlanta's loss to the Indiana Pacers Wednesday night, and a 3-4 month timetable would mean any possible return this season would come in the first or second round of the playoffs.

The loss of the 6'10 240 post player is devastating for the Hawks chances of advancing past the second round after three straight defeats, as his only backups are veteran retreads Zaza Pachulia and Jason Collins.

Not only will losing Horford's rebounding and jump-shooting from the center position dramatically hurt Atlanta's playoff seeding, but if he returns during the playoffs, he would likely need 2-3 weeks the Hawks don't have to get his feet back under him.
