Warriors Vs. Hawks Final Score: Atlanta Falls 85-82 Against Golden State

The Atlanta Hawks fell behind early and couldn't completely close the gap in the second half eventually falling 85-82 to the Golden State Warriors. The loss is Atlanta's ninth in its last 13 games.

The Hawks should look in the mirror when looking for answers for this loss. The Hawks were just 16-26 from the free throw line and missed a number of point blank chances in the paint during the second half. Atlanta came out stagnant on offense settling for long jump shots and allowing the Warriors to control the boards and to get out and run for easy baskets.

The Hawks held their own in the second half but couldn't completely climb out of the hole that dug in the first. David Lee's lay in with just 30 seconds remaining put the Warriors up for good. Atlanta had a chance to tie but Jeff Teague missed a floater in the lane and the Warriors sealed things from the free throw line.

Joe Johnson led the Hawks with 18 points but was just 6-17 from the field after starting 1-8. Jeff Teague finished with 15 points and four assists. Josh Smith was one of three Hawks players to log a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds but was just 5-20 from the field. Zaza Pachulia turned in a great effort finishing with 13 points and 16 rebounds while Marvin Williams added 11 points and 11 boards.

Monta Ellis led the Warriors with 24 points and eight assists. David Lee added 22 points and 12 boards. Ekpe Udoh finished with 12 points and eight rebounds and Nate Robinson pitched in 10 points off the bench.

Warriors Vs. Hawks Score: Atlanta Trails Golden State 48-38 At Halftime

This certainly wasn't the start that the Atlanta Hawks were hoping for to begin the second half of the season. Atlanta trails Golden State 48-38 at halftime after getting outworked on the glass and settling for jump shots on the offensive end of the floor.

Prior to the game, Mark Jackson inserted Dominic McGuire into the starting lineup with the hope that his added length would give Atlanta some trouble. McGuire didn't score in the first half but grabbed 11 rebounds to help pace the Warriors to a 33-18 advantage on the glass. David Lee leads the Warriors with 12 points and seven rebounds while Monta Ellis added nine points to go along with seven assists. Ekpe Udoh came off the bench to score eight points and grab five rebounds.

Its been one and done for the Hawks at the offensive end after falling into the trap of settling for long jump shots. Atlanta is 15-46 from the field in the first half and just 2-12 from three-point range. Jeff Teague and Marvin Williams lead the way with eight points while Joe Johnson and Zaza Pachulia each have six. Johnson is just 1-8 from the field in his return to the lineup.

If Atlanta is going to turn things around in the second half then they are going to have to find a way to keep the Warriors off the glass and to find some offense going to the basket.

Jason Collins Injury: Hawks Center Expects To Begin Rehab On Friday

Atlanta's Jason Collins is progressing in his recovery from a torn ligament in his elbow and expects to begin rehab on the injury on Friday.

Collins hasn't played since February 2 when he suffered the elbow injury against the Memphis Grizzlies. On the season, Collins has played in 13 games and is averaging 1.0 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.

Without Collins and Al Horford, Zaza Pachulia has taken over as Atlanta's starting center. The Hawks signed Erick Dampier to two 10-day contracts and expects to resign him for the remainder of the season. Collins played a big part in the Hawks success last season in the playoffs against the Orlando Magic. However, Atlanta has continued that success into this season defeating the Magic twice without Collins.

Erick Dampier's Second 10-Day Contract Expires, Expects To Resign For Remainder Of Season

The Atlanta Hawks will also be without Erick Dampier for Wednesday night's game against the Golden State Warriors after his second 10-day contract with the club expired. By rule the Hawks must now either let Dampier go or resign him for the remainder of the season which they are expected to do as soon as Thursday.

Dampier has appeared in six games with the Hawks totaling 30 minutes of playing time. He has 11 rebounds, one block and one steal on the season. Atlanta signed Dampier to help provide depth for its front court after both Al Horford and Jason Collins went down with injuries.

Joe Johnson Injury: Hawks Guard Participates In Shoot Around, Still Game-Time Decision

Injured Hawks guard Joe Johnson is still listed as a game-time decision for tonight's game against the Golden State Warriors but took part in the teams shoot around and looks like he is on track to return to action.

Johnson sat out Atlanta's last two games and did not participate in any All-Star weekend activities because of tendinitis in his right knee. Willie Green and Kirk Hinrich each got a start at shooting guard in Johnson's absence. Johnson has appeared in 32 games for the Hawks this season and is averaging 17.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.

Joe Johnson Injury Update: Hawks SG Takes Full Practice Tuesday, Game Time Decision Against Warriors

Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Joe Johnson pulled out of the NBA All-Star Game over the weekend with a sore knee and was replaced by Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics. As the NBA teams get back to the regular-season grind this week, it appears the injury will not keep Johnson out of the Hawks lineup for long, if at all.

Nubyjas Wilborn of 1500 ESPN Radio reported on Tuesday that Johnson took part in a full practice and full contact drills with the team. Zack Klein at WSB followed up later in the day that Hawks head coach Larry Drew stated Johnson would be a game time decision for Wednesday's game against the visiting Golden State Warriors.

Drew also stated that Zaza Pachulia would be a game time decision against the Warriors. Pachulia was icing his left calf following practice.
