Jannero Pargo Injury: Hawks Guard Could Return Soon

When Jannero Pargo first had surgery on his appendix it was thought that he might miss as much as a month of action. After a post-op check up, Pargo at least thinks he will be back on the court much quicker than that.

Pargo's injury has left the Hawks thin in the backcourt as they had just recently shifted Kirk Hinrich into the starting lineup alongside Jeff Teague and Joe Johnson moving to small forward. Hinrich has still been backing up Teague as the starting point guard in Pargo's absence but both have been playing heavy minutes of late.

Pargo has played in 39 games for the Hawks this season and is averaging 5.2 points and 1.4 assists while shooting a career best 42 percent from the field.

Jannero Pargo Injury: Hawks Guard Out A Month After Successful Appendectomy

The injuries continue to pile up for the Atlanta Hawks who can add Jannero Pargo to their injury list after the guard had successful surgery on his appendix Sunday night. Pargo is expected to miss about a month while he recovers from the surgery.

Pargo was taken to the hospital before Sunday's game with the Cavaliers as a precautionary measure after experiencing a stomach illness. Pargo is scheduled to return to Atlanta in a couple of days.

The injury leaves the Hawks extremely thin at the point guard position given that Kirk Hinrich has moved into the starting lineup alongside Jeff Teague. With Marvin Williams and Willie Green both also sidelined with injuries, Larry Drew has to rely on either Tracy McGrady or Jerry Stackhouse to help provide depth.

Jannero Pargo Injury: Hawks Guard Has Appendicitis, To Have Surgery Sunday Night

Tests performed at The Cleveland Clinic revealed that Atlanta Hawks guard Jannero Pargo has appendicitis and will undergo surgery tonight and will not travel with the team back to Atlanta.

Pargo was transported to the hospital prior to tip off of Atlanta's win over the Cavs on Sunday. He was set to undergo tests for a stomach illness. The surgery will keep him out of action for several days.

Atlanta has battled injuries from onset this season. Al Horford was lost early in the campaign for the remainder of the regular season for a torn pectoral muscle. Joe Johnson has also missed time battling tendinitis in his knee. The Hawks played the Cavs on Sunday without Marvin Williams, Vladimir Radmanovic and Willie Green who stayed behind in Atlanta while dealing with assorted injuries.

Jannero Pargo Injury: Hawks Guard Spending The Night In Cleveland Hospital

Atlanta Hawks guard Jannero Pargo will spend the night in a Cleveland Hospital to undergo tests for some sort of a stomach illness. Pargo is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Boston Celtics.

Pargo was announced out of Sunday's game against the Cavaliers about an hour before tip off and was later transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure. He was undergoing tests for possible dehydration.

Without Pargo, Hawks coach Larry Drew played Jeff Teague and Kirk Hinrich both around 36 minutes each and Tracy McGrady saw just under 26 minutes of action. McGrady's status for Monday's game isn't known as the Hawks have refrained from playing him in back-to-back situations this season. Jerry Stackhouse played just under nine minutes and scored nine points for Atlanta.
