NBA Power Rankings 2012: Atlanta Hawks Land At No. 9

The latest NBA Power Rankings are out from SB Nation's Tom Ziller and the Atlanta Hawks are ranked among the top ten at No. 9 overall. Winners of four in a row and six of their last seven, the Hawks are among the hottest teams in the league right now and that's a good sign heading into the latter part of the regular season schedule. Ziller writes:

Unfortunately, Sunday's 4OT victory is still only worth one game in the win column. It's looking more likely every day, though, that the Hawks or Pacers will have first-round home court against the Atlantic champion. That's an important target, even though Atlanta is comfortable drawing No. 3 Orlando.

Ziller ranks the 30-20 Hawks as the fourth best team in the Eastern Conference at this point with the Chicago Bulls on top of everyone.

Hawks Vs. Jazz Final Score: Atlanta Wins 133-139 Over Utah In Quadruple Overtime

The Atlanta Hawks were playing their third game in as many nights and ended up playing some extra basketball as the game went to four overtimes against the Utah Jazz. The Hawks ended up winning 139-133.

The game went to overtime with an Al Jefferson layup with 1:14 left as neither team could score on the few chances they had in regulation. The first overtime period was a wasteland of offense as each team scored only two points with the Hawks going 1-of-8 with the Jazz making 1-of-5 shots.

The second and third overtimes saw the two teams back to actually scoring baskets, and then it was in the fourth overtime when the Hawks started to pull away. The Hawks started the fourth quarter on an 8-2 run en route to beating the Jazz.

Joe Johnson led the Hawks in scoring with 37 points and Zaza Pachulia scored 15 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.

Jazz Vs. Hawks: Derrick Favors Giving Utah Solid Bench Production

Former Georgia Tech standout and South Atlanta High product Derrick Favors makes his return to the city of Atlanta Sunday evening when the Hawks take on the Utah Jazz.

As a 20 year old in his second season with the Utah Jazz, Favors is averaging 8.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game off the bench for the Jazz in about 20 minutes of playing time each night. He is stuck backing up Paul Milsap and Al Jefferson in the Utah frontcourt.

In case you have forgotten, after being drafted by the New Jersey Nets with the third pick in the 2010 NBA Draft Favors was the key piece in the trade that brought former Utah point guard Deron Williams to the New Jersey.

Favors hasn't had much luck against the Hawks averaging 4.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in three career games. During his only season at Georgia Tech, Favors averaged 12.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as a freshman.
