Hawks Offseason 2012: Offer To Danny Ferry Is A Six-Year Deal

The Atlanta Hawks appear serious about trying to take that next step, and to do so they have their sights set on Danny Ferry as their next general manager. They have made an offer to Ferry, an executive for the San Antonio Spurs, that is a six-year deal, according to ESPN.

On Sunday night, the Hawks released a statement to the Associated Press addressing the Ferry rumors.

"As we continue to evaluate our franchise and look to build a championship caliber organization, we reached out to Danny Ferry," the Hawks said. "We are engaged in conversation regarding the Atlanta Hawks and our basketball operations. As the situation evolves, we will update at the appropriate time."

With the Hawks committed to finding a new general manager, it also implies that team is no longer for sale.

The NBA draft is on Thursday, and the Hawks hope to have a new general manager in place by then.
