Danny Ferry has been on the job for barely a week now and he has already done what many deemed impossible. The fact that he was able to find anyone that was wiling to take the some $90 million left on Johnson's contract is one thing. To get the framework in place for a deal without taking back a single bad contract in return is entirely another.

Suddenly these Hawks have flexibility which is something they haven't had in a long time. So much potential flexibility that a competitive offer to a free agent like Dwight Howard is now possible. Whether Howard would consider or not is unknown but this clearly is not the same passive Hawks organization that we have seen in the past. Perhaps most important Ferry just proved to Hawks fans everywhere that anything is possible.
