Joe Johnson Trade: Final Details On Deal With Nets

Final details of the trade that will send Joe Johnson to Brooklyn have emerged and have the Hawks receiving five players along with a lottery protected first-round pick that the Nets got from Houston.

Atlanta will receive the contracts of Johan Petro, Jordan Williams, Jordan Farmar, Anthony Morrow and DeShawn Stevenson. Petro, Williams and Morrow are all expiring contracts and will come off the books at the end of the 2012 season. Reports indicate that Atlanta will buy out Farmar for $1.5 million after the trade is completed. DeShawn Stevenson agreed to a non-guaranteed multi-year deal which also pretty much makes him an expiring contract.

The draft pick the Hawks received is lottery protected through 2016. That means that Atlanta will get the pick as long as the Rockets make the playoffs and stay out of the lottery. Best case scenario would be for the Rockets to grab the 8th seed in the Western Conference next season.

Combining the Johnson trade with the Marvin Williams to Utah deal has cleared up around $40 million in cap room for Atlanta in the 2013-14 season.
