After leading his team to an impressive come-from-behind victory over Korea during the preliminary round of the Olympic qualifier in Caracas, Venezuela, Atlanta Hawks star Al Horford couldn't duplicate the feat on Wednesday as his Dominican Republic squad fell to Russia by a final score of 84-69.
Horford led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds in 35 minutes of action. He was 10-12 from the field and also tallied four assists and one blocked shot. Ronald Ramon was the second leader scorer with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The loss brings the Dominican Republic team to 1-1 in pool play of the qualifier.
On the Russian side, Vitaliy Fridzon and Anton Ponkrashov scored 16 points each while former NBA player Viktor Khryapa scored 14 points in the game.

Al Horford led a second half comeback as the Dominican Republic held off an upset attempt from Korea in preliminary action of the Olympic Qualifier in Venezuela.
After trailing 41-37 at the half, Horford led the comeback finishing with 30 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. He went 10-14 from the field and 10-13 from the charity stripe in the game. Jack Michael Martinez added 16 points and an unbelievable 25 rebounds. Horford and Martinez's combined 37 rebounds were 10 more than Korea's 27 total. Francisco Garcia added 13 points for the Dominican Republic. Seung Jun Lee scored 21 points to lead Korea.
The Dominican Republic will take on Russia on Wednesday as they wrap up preliminary action.
