Falcons vs. Eagles, Week 8: Philadelphia G Danny Watkins misses practice

Only one player missed practice for the Eagles on Thursday.

Philadelphia Eagles guard Danny Watkins was the only player to miss practice Thursday, according to Philly.com.

Watkins is nursing a sprained ankle. His status for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons is up in the air.

"I gave him a breather today and then I'm just going to see from [trainer Rick Burkholder] how he does," coach Andy Reid said. "If I have to give him a breather tomorrow, I'll give him a breather tomorrow, and then we'll see where we go from there."

Rookie guard Dennis Kelly practiced in Watkins' place Thursday. He is expected to start Sunday if Watkins isn't ready to go.

Watkins, 27, is in his second season. He was the No. 23 pick in the first round of the NFL Draft last year.

The Baylor grad started 12 games as a rookie last season. He's started all six games this year.

Kelly, 22, has played in one game for Philadelphia this season. He was a fifth-round draft pick out of Purdue this year.

Philadelphia is 3-3 heading into Sunday's game against the undefeated Falcons (6-0). The Eagles are coming off a bye week. After a bye under coach Andy Reid, the Eagles are 13-0.
