Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy was critical of Mike Smith and the new Atlanta Falcons offense, saying that the Falcons need to run the ball more.
Even though the Atlanta Falcons are off to a perfect 5-0 start, some analysts aren't quite ready to praise Atlanta's process – despite the perfect result.
"I have a bone to pick with Mike Smith. I love Matt Ryan, too, but don't forget about your running game. This was a team that was built on defense and running the ball. Get Michael Turner back involved."
This little gripe was after Turner carried the ball for a season-high 18 times against Washington.
Through the first five games of the season, Turner has carried the ball 73 times for a total of 324 yards, and has scored three rushing touchdowns.
Turner has carried the ball over 300 times in three of the last four seasons. Coming into the year, the Falcons were trying to decrease Turner's workload, and so far, they have.
It just hasn't gone over well with the media.
