With a pick toward the end of the first round, will the Atlanta Falcons focus on defense or offense?

The Atlanta Falcons hope they'll be picking at the very end of the 2013 NFL Draft. And if they do, the experts at CBS Sports expect them to add a piece to their defense.

Both Rob Rang and Dane Brugler project the Falcons to select LSU defense end Sam Montgomery. Though the Falcons' draft position has yet to be determined, Rang and Brugler currently have the Falcons picking 32nd.

Montgomery, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound junior, has been one of LSU's top defensive players. He was a third-team All-American this season, recording seven sacks and 32 tackles, 12 for a loss. In three years for the Tigers, Montgomery has racked up 18 sacks, eighth in LSU history.

Despite finishing 13-3, Atlanta could use an impact defensive player. The Falcons allowed only 18.7 points per game, fifth in the NFL, but they allowed 365 yards a contest, well toward the bottom of the league. And Atlanta could definitely benefit from a strong pass rusher. The Falcons had only 29 sacks on the season, 27th in the league. Ten of those sacks came from John Abraham, who is signed through 2015.

Regardless of the draft spot, it's likely the Falcons will concentrate on defense, and Montgomery is likely to be a top target.
