2011 NFL Draft: A.J. Green The Nation's Top Prospect, Says Mocking The Draft

Stay connected for news and updates

Could Georgia Bulldogs WR A.J. Green be drafted ahead of Stanford Cardinal QB Andrew Luck? Hard to say what the Carolina Panthers (presumably) will do with their first pick, but Mocking The Draft thinks Green will be the draft’s best player if/when he decides to enter.

Green will wait to announce his decision until after the Liberty Bowl, but there’s no reason to think he’ll pass up on millions of dollars. Not that we’d begrudge him sticking around — the thought of a sophomore Aaron Murray getting a senior A.J. Green for an entire season boggles the Dawg fan’s mind.

Franchise quarterback types get drafted ahead of consensus best players from time to time. Happened to Georgia Tech’s Calvin Johnson just a few years ago, when the Oakland Raiders took JaMarcus Russell first, and then again last year when the Lions were gifted Ndamukong Suh, though Sam Bradford is turning out to be the right pick for the St. Louis Rams.
