Georgia Tech and Georgia are both expected to go bowling this year.
The Georgia Bulldogs defeated their rival Florida Gators on Saturday to become bowl eligible and are tied atop the SEC East with the South Carolina Gamecocks. But they already lost to South Carolina, so Georgia will need some help if they want to have a chance to make it to the Sugar Bowl as the SEC champion. As of now, Georgia is pegged for a January bowl game, but it will not likely be a BCS bowl.
As for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, they became bowl eligible after their 6-0 start. And after upsetting the Clemson Tigers, Georgia Tech is in position to move to the top of the ACC Coastal division as they face the division leader, the Virginia Tech Hokies. If Georgia Tech can get past Virginia Tech, then that opens the way for the Jackets to have a chance to make it to the Orange Bowl.
Here are this week's bowl projections:
Hyundai Sun Bowl, Dec. 31, 2011
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. California Golden Bears
Outback Bowl, Jan. 2, 2012
Georgia Bulldogs vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers
